Brooklyn, NY
Please join us for a special screening of Shored Up, followed by a Q&A with Director Ben Kalina as a part of the "Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1" exhibition.
“Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1” will be on view from October 20 through December 15, 2013 at a new exhibition space at Industry City, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
This exhibition is a unique collaboration between the Dedalus Foundation, the Brooklyn Rail, the Jamestown Charitable Foundation, and Industry City Associates. It is curated by Phong Bui, artist, writer, and publisher of the Brooklyn Rail.
The exhibition, which is meant to show the solidarity of the New York arts community after last year’s devastating events, marks the beginning of an ongoing partnership between the Dedalus Foundation and Industry City. After this inaugural exhibition, numerous exhibitions and educational initiatives will be programmed by Dedalus at Industry City on an ongoing basis.
During the course of the exhibition there will be a variety of events, including musical and dance performances, films, panel discussions regarding the conservation of works of art and preventative measures with regard to future natural disasters, and readings by twenty poets who have been commissioned by Dedalus to write about their experiences of Sandy and other natural disasters.
